Digital Storyteller - Social Media Manager

We’re looking for somebody who absolutely loves to tell a good story and has a nose for news.

The DIGITAL STORYTELLER is charged with telling the story of Jesus and His church as it's lived out every day at National Community Church.
You need to be able to tell it compellingly; tell it strategically; tell it passionately. 

We're looking for a Digital Storyteller with a strong vision for sharing the gospel across multiple platforms—with a main emphasis on social media. The Digital Storyteller maintains a firm grip on the pulse of rapidly-changing digital communications tools, especially social media, and understands overall communications strategy and how digital fits into that mix. National Community Church (NCC) believes the Church should be the most creative and diverse place on the planet. That means we hire people with a high level of vision and technical skill. In this case, we're looking for someone who can write swiftly and clearly; can deliver unique and compelling stories; works well alongside other creatives; and has a brain bursting with creative ideas. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Key Functions
• Work with CCO to strategize and execute all internal and external communications.
•  Maintain a robust, story-driven, and innovative digital/social media presence.
• Translate vision and objectives into clear, creative digital communications
• Work with all NCC ministries and campuses to deliver the right message to the right audience with the right tool at the right time—with accuracy, creativity, and excellence.
 

Key Responsibilities
• Share stories of what God is doing in our city, church, and personal lives with a pastoral heart and a passion to draw people closer to Jesus
• Write clear and accurate copy, create video reels and still images to shape social media content.
• Cover Sunday services and events and report on those via social media.
• Maintain youtube channel: edit and upload videos, respond to comments.
• Social media: create content and monitor feeds on all NCC channels. Prepare and present analytics reports to stakeholders. Advise leadership on messaging and strategy.
• Execute weekly internal communications across multiple platforms
• Work with IT staff and ministries to keep website content current
• Collaborate with and support ministries and campuses while safeguarding the overall flow of communications to best steward our congregants’ time and attention
• Work with CCO to implement marketing strategies and execute external advertising campaigns including digital, print, outdoor, and direct mail
• Perform basic video editing. Perform basic design edits based on art direction from graphic design team
• Manage digital assets
• Maintain and keep current the annual content calendar in Asana

Education/Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in social media, communications, film, journalism, or related field or equivalent professional work experience preferred.

• Experience with the following:
• Curating the social media voice and strategy for an organization
• Using social listening tools and analytics platforms, and using data to inform strategy
• Project managing creative communications
• Identifying a target audience and creating unique campaigns to capture their attention

Special Knowledge/Skills Requirements
• Must be available on-site for Sunday services and special events. Sunday is a work day for this position.
• Must be a committed and connected member of the NCC community. (Relocation may be required since proximity to NCC is a crucial part of this job).
•Desire and passion to serve Jesus through His work at National Community Church
• Excellent overall communication skills: verbal, visual, written, and relational
• Impeccable writing, spelling, grammar, and editing ability
• Conversant with digital communication strategies across multiple platforms
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Asana a plus
• Sound basic photography and videography skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy, even on time-sensitive projects
• Understanding and application of effective design standards for video, print, and digital media
• Flexibility to plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to turn around projects on short timelines
• Maintain a prudent and thoughtful personal social media presence that honors God, demonstrates humility and consideration for others, and displays personal integrity
• Be a collaborative team player who thrives on providing timely, high-quality support for the various departments and ministries within NCC
• Reflect Christ in your words and actions in your personal life and ministry. As an NCC leader, you will be looked up to as you model the Christian faith. The way you live your life, and the way you portray yourself online, should reflect the gospel and honor God.
